My daughter used to read all the time when she was in elementary school. Sometime around middle school she stopped reading as much. However, during this quarantine she has picked it back up and is reading constantly, I love it!
All of her reading has inspired me to be more intentional and diligent in my reading. I love reading, but I don’t always make time for it.
I’ve already read a couple of books in the past week and am looking forward to reading more from my list. I did put together a list in January – you can read more about it in this blog post. I usually try to stick to the list, but sometimes I venture off a bit. Having a reading list is just a guide. As the year unfolds sometimes you come across other books you want to read instead. I have a few books I’ve waited over 6 months for from the library. It seems everyone else is reading more these days!
In case you are looking for a new book to read – I wanted to share some of my favorites to give you some ideas and suggestions. Enjoy!
My favorite fiction books
- Where the Crawdads Sing – This is an amazing book. One of my all-time favorites!
- The Hate U Give – Such an important story to read and so good!
- Educated – An incredible – almost unbelievable story.
- A Man Called Ove – A very endearing story.
- The Nightingale – I love historical fiction books and this is a great one.
- Wonder – This is a book you can read with your kids or to your kids. It is so good and has such a great message. This book has many awards – including Time Magazine’s 100 Best Young Adult Books of All Time. I think everyone should read this book!
- The Shack – This is also one of my all-time favorite books. I think of it often. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book faster than I read this one.
- Out of My Mind – This is another young adult book but so so good! It gives you such an important perspective that you wouldn’t otherwise have. I highly recommend this one and you can also read it with your kids.
- The Atonement Child – I love Francine Rivers books – she has a lot of great ones. This one is another very important story. It provides perspective on a very polarizing topic.
